Online systems and data management
CSL's Knowledge Management team has a wealth of experience in data management, which is born of providing the tools and expertise to manipulate and present data from CSL's core scientific research and development programmes.
The team's strength lies in the ability to take disparate and often complex datasets and create linked databases that, through their functionality and simplicity, meet the needs of end users.
It is a skill that requires not only the ability to work with a client's own dataset, but also to:
- build a knowledge of other relevant data sources within an industry sector
- understand how that sector works
- be aware of customer needs and spot opportunities to add value through database functionality
All databases are built as web-based systems to remove the need for specialist software and to provide clients with simple and intuitive access. However, password protected security access can be built in, at single or multiple levels, to meet individual client requirements.
Along with the skills to build these systems the team maintains a large range of datasets, which can be incorporated, where appropriate, into the functionality of a client's bespoke system. As an example, CSL's Pesticide Approvals dataset has been linked to one system to provide additional validation data.
