INTEREST AND EXPERTISE:
In view of the EU accession of Hungary, the
Department is focusing on the non-food utilization
of plant raw materials, the diversification
of agricultural production, also in view
of regional development. Strong points of
the research activities, as well as expertise,
are:
- Ecophysiology of medicinal and aromatic plants
(MAPs)
- Chemical, botanical and ecological study
of MAPs
- Plant domestication/introduction with a special
emphasis on MAPs
- Diversification of agricultural/horticultural
production (New Crops and New Uses)
- Veterinary (feed additives and medical) uses
of biologically active substances of plant
origin
EXPERTISE OF COLLABORATING PARTNERS:
- Plant analytics and extraction (essential
oils/anti-oxidants, etc.)
- In vitro micro-propagation
- Primary processing of plants (incl. health
care products)
- Quality analysis of food-produce of plant
origin
- Experimental farms and animal husbandry facilities
(nutrition)
- Good Agricultural Practice of MAPs
The newly established botanic garden of the
Department is a thematic garden of alternative
